Translation of the Libro dell'Arte
In 2015, my annotated translation and transcription of Cennino Cennini's Il Libro dell'Arte was published by Archetype, London.
The Libro dell'Arte was written in Italy around the turn of the fifteenth century and describes in detail the materials and techniques available to artists of the period. It is very well known to scholars, who have long been fascinated by the window that it opens onto the world of the artists of the Italian Renaissance, and it has been the basis of much of my own artistic experimentation.
