Morning on the Sixth Day

Egg tempera and gold leaf on oak.

31cm x 26cm x 1cm

This painting is about ecstatic joy, as the animals, created on the sixth day, see the sun rising for the first time, before the intrusion of man into their paradise.

The sun is punched into the gold ground so that it glitters as the viewer moves around the painting or as the light changes.
