Two Tulips

Egg tempera and gold leaf on oak

Each panel 40cm x 4cm

In this diptych, I freeze in time the purple tulips which decorate my courtyard every Spring. The one on the left is at its prime, while the one on the right is just beginning to droop and the tiny fly hovering over it is a gentle reminder that all living things must, eventually die.
